Who The Hell Am I?
My name is Rohan and I’ve been a graphic designer and internet marketer for 7 years. I’ve always been inspired by companies like Apple that place just as much importance on design as they do on the quality of their products and this is something I’ve always followed in my online business, especially when it comes to marketing my information products.
What I realized was that I wasn’t the only one who cared about quality across all parts of my business and in fact, most online marketers did as well, but a lot of them were stifled and it was holding them back. Over on my end, however, it was a completely different story.
I had nothing holding me back.
I Wasn’t Playing Fair (I Have No Roadblocks But You Have A BIG One)
For me, the product launch process couldn’t be easier:
- Use my content creation system to quickly create a product in days
- Use a marketing machine to design my promo materials in one day flat
- Market my product by promoting to JV’s
And I could do this 24/7, 365 with zero roadblocks.
My online colleagues on the other hand, couldn’t. This is what their process would look like:
- Create an info product
- Spend days asking around for different graphic designers, trying to get the lowest price.
- Get their graphics back and request some revisions be made.
- Wait an extra 5 days for their marketing materials
- Finally launch later than expected with less jv’s
I Just Couldn’t Feel Their Pain
I had no idea what this felt like, but I’d get a pretty good idea when I’d talk to them. Entrepreneurs are control freaks by nature because we understand something the day we start our businesses: we write our own paychecks, and unlike in a day job, the size and frequency of those paychecks is tied to how quickly you can deliver a product to market.
Everything with my products flowed: the content matched the logo and that matched the banners, which matched my PowerPoint presentations. This created a marketing machine that would impress my JV’s and help me stand out in the crowd of all of other people that were messaging them.
Every month or so, I would take out a week and design a marketing machine with 5-10 themes, which are a pack of graphics that I use to promote my products. When I’m ready to launch, I pick a theme, load my content into these marketing machines in mere hours and begin promoting my product.
But this is where you and I differ…
Is This You? (it’s never low enough!)
A few months ago I got laid off from my job and was doing graphic design on the side while I worked on an information product. One thing I’ve noticed through the years is that internet marketers will always try to haggle you over graphic design prices and no price you offer them will be low enough.
In the image above you see me quote someone $247 for sales page design, which is a crazy discount. The starting price for sales page is about $1,000 if you’re looking for someone who knows what they’re doing. …but he’s strapped for cash and can’t really afford it at the moment and tells me he’ll keep in touch.
I never heard from him again.
This kept happening again and again and while I did land a few clients here and there to keep myself afloat, the great majority of newbie internet marketer’s simply couldn’t afford quality graphic design.
As this kept happening, I remembered a talk I had with a friend who is a tattoo artist where he told me how offended he gets when people try to haggle him on prices for his work. And I totally get it.
This dude went to school to become an artist and spent hundreds of hours perfecting his craft, but there were always people who would try to get some sort of discount. I kid you not, he even told me that…
One Girl Offered Him An “Alternative” Form Of Payment

The people who wanted tattoos didn’t value my friends work so they tried to screw him over with lowball prices, while on the other hand, internet marketers KNEW the how important good marketing was when it came to launching a product, but since a lot of them were in the beginning stages of their IM careers…
They Simply Could Not Afford It At This Time (My Guilt)
This realization started to make me feel a little guilty and I wondered what it would feel like to have to SETTLE for crap quality work because you didn’t have enough money to pay for the good stuff. While I definitely was not about to lower my already low graphic design prices, I wanted to do something about it…
I Seriously Couldn’t Speak Your Language At First
One of the biggest traps people fall into when teaching something is forgetting how complicated it once was to them and instead of explaining things in layman’s terms, we explain them like we’re talking to other teachers. It’s a trap we fall into when creating information products, writings sales letters etc. and it all boils down to this, you are not speaking your customers’ language, which could result in you losing them forever.
I definitely ran into this problem when creating these machines: since I was the only one using these marketing machines up until now, I didn’t take the time to organize them since I already knew where everything was. But the way the files were organized made it a little harder to edit things and find where things were and on top of that, the file sizes were huge since I had no need to compress them.
I only realized this after I showed it to a few friends and they had problems editing the files. I took some extra time to correct these issues in Photoshop so that everything made sense. Now I was speaking your language, but…
That STILL wasn’t enough
Back in 2007 or 08, I released a product on The Warrior Forum that BOMBED. It was a pack of 7 mobile website themes using a framework called JQuery Mobile. The failure of that product was all my fault: I hadn’t asked for any feedback before I released it and it sold a total of two copies. I had learned my lesson: always ask for feedback before launching.
Not even brain surgery could have drilled that lesson deeper into my head and scared to have to go through that nightmare again, I began sending early copies of my marketing machines to all of my friends and asked them all to give me honest feedback. One of them said something so stupidly simple that It made me want to bang my head against a wall knowing that I would’ve released this product without realizing this…
“I don’t have Photoshop Rohan”
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Obviously not everyone has Photoshop, what rock are you living under?!” And that’s exactly the point, I’ve been paying Adobe $50 a month for 3 years now, which made me completely forget that Photoshop isn’t free and doesn’t come pre-installed on computers.
That’s the rock I’ve been living under.
Damn it, another 2 weeks
I took another 2 weeks to go back and re-create every single graphic I made in Photoshop in PowerPoint as well. It was a ton more work and there were tons of times I wanted to just cut the price of this in half and sell it only to people with Photoshop, but I didn’t mind, since I knew what it meant: a ton more people would now have access to these marketing machines, which was my goal in the first place.
I still had a few more things to add however, and…
Now I Was Just Over-doing It
By this time I had built a Marketing Machine with a bunch of different themes you could edit in just minutes in Photoshop and PowerPoint and to be honest with you, I was more than ready to launch and I actually started feeling frustrated because I was taking so long to launch this product.
I got to a point where I couldn’t tell whether I was genuinely adding value and making this easier for you to use, or procrastinating. Needless to say, I kept going and went back and added more stuff like animated PowerPoint templates and more banner ad sizes.
